Home is Where the Heart is
If home is where the heart is.. Then my home is the world.
"Esta es su casa!" - said my madre when I came home for comida last friday! Somethings have changed a little, but it was all the same. Alicante itself has not changed, but I could feel the year that had passed by. Walking back into what I had called my home and my room a year ago, brought back so many memories.. Each stepped played a different version of "we did this here and that over there last year" in my mind as I told the stories to my sister.
It was Las Hogueras, and I went out true Alicantina style.. As much as I could w only one other Alicantina: Katee. Thursday and Friday: un euro granizadas, Carpe Diem (same old crowded bar with drunk ERAMUS girls screaming out the lyrics and guys creepin' along the walls..), Mulligans, cañas, and chupitos gratis! One of those nights I met Clayton, a Mizzou student who is also a Walton Scholar! Talk about small world. And what made our world a little smaller yet is that his roomie is none other than AYOUB! It was quite obvious they would be friends with more ERAMUS students, but geesh!
Saturday: went down to the puerto and then Directo and Cinta Avenida! Claro veía mis amigos de morueco!! Nothing has changed with them.. Much. Same old fiestas todas las noches. Chicas chicas chicas... Estan chicos malos, pero no mucho ahora. When you receive a text from one of them that says : si con mi chica pero no pasa nada vamos a escapar un rato. He's the same old, but at least he is honest about his other girl.. Nothing happened, I couldn't have that on my conscious! It has only been a year, but it really felt like it had been longer. Mi "hermano" has a mustache.. fitting, but not. He kind of looks mexicano! Lollllll
I don't have any juicy details. There wasn't much to do in the short weekend I was there. The weekend was such a tease to be back there.. But glad I got to touch base with my second home. Can't wait to be back again someday. Hopefully with more of my Alicantinas!!!

beginning to the end..part 2
It's that time again.. When you start to think about the beginning at the end.. When I saw this month of traveling lingering ahead of me during the prep stage, the month looked like such a long time to travel. Hopping between cities made the time fly.
We had some good moments and bad.. Climbing 300+ stairs to the top of the döm in Frankfurt, 8ish km bike ride in Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber, bbq in Freising, paragliding in Interlaken, Sacher Torte in Vienna, Sound of Music Tour in Salzburg, Mozart Balls in Salzburg, rock paper scissors up the Sacre Coeur steps, and the rain.
Some unexpected things.. Broken heels in Frankfurt, not being able to book a room in Geneva, not liking the Mozart Balls in Salzburg, flames-from-my-mouth shot in Vienna, St. Stephen's Kirche in Vienna, perfect weather in London, loving the area up near the Sacre Coeur, laughing a lot, losing articles of clothing (not while wearing them!), and the rain.
Random sayings: "ja ja" "you do you"-Tyler "ka che"-Keith "I dont care"-Hannes/Maxi attitude voice
Nothing can take away these memories. These are the memories that will make my daydreams even better when I am feeling under the weather from unsatisfying my wanderlust...

The city of LOVE
PARIS... The city of lovvvve. I have fallen in love with you again. Today started out shitty, but the ending was breathtaking. I regret being unable to hang around Montmartre the first time around. I guess that is what made today so much better. The Sacre Coeur was incredible! At dusk, my sister and I took the million steps up and took us a good 30mins.. We were playing rock, paper, scissors up the stairs (I won.) and everyone stared and smiled us the whole way up. It was embarrassing, but more importantly it was so much fun!
The inside.. Just incredible. The gold mosaic details in the dome, the winking of the candle light against the stone walls and metallic decor, and the melodic voices of the nuns singing just added so much more to the experience inside the basilica. I never wanted to donate so much money to one church before..
Then up behind and around the basilica is the cutest part of Paris ever! It's what made me fall in love with the city all over again. The outsides of the apartments are super cute.. The shops and restaurants are adorable. The gelaterias are EVERYWHERE!!! Loveeeeeee. If I could live anywhere in Paris.. It would be here in Montmartre.
The city at night. No words. Gorgeous. Spectacular. Breathtaking. Incredible. Awesome. None of these words can describe the view. The Eiffel Tower (from the one side of Montmartre) is the only thing you see. It is truly the highlight of the city through the trees at that one particular spot. I understand now why so many people were just chillin' on the steps at dusk.. They got the good seats for the best view of Paris. Never have I ever wanted a boyfriend more than that moment when I looked out at Paris that night.. I think I might just hire one the next time I am Paris just for those few hours. ;)

Sprechen sie Englisch?
I am more than excited to go to a country where I can actually speak and understand the language. We have a couple extra days, so why not just fly off to London to blaze through a couple days before we go to Paris for the weekend.
I love and am going to miss this lifestyle again. I still replay the moment when I received a text from Allison asking me what I was doing on Tuesday. Then the following text saying: let's go to Paris!!! Europe is so exciting just for the fact that we can fly anywhere for really cheap for a few days. BOOK IT!!!!!!!!!
I am hoping to get the sales job through Media Plus Consulting. I will be able to travel all the time (and sell ads...) all-expenses paid (as long as I meet my sales quota) it will be an exciting opportunity for me to do what I love while making a living!! Maybe I will finally be able to say I have visited more countries than how old I am.

Circuitous ... Indirect
Things always happen for a reason.. But things don't always go in a direct path.. Life is a circuitous path to some finish line of life.
I post this because several things happened to me during my stay in Interlaken that wasn't according to plan.
First: The first night we got to Interlaken, Cherie and I went on a little hike and had Korean food for dinner. I was tired so I wanted to spend some time in the hammock room of our hostel. Cherie asked "Do you have the iPad?" I reach behind me in the hammock and say "No, but I have an iTouch" Closest thing to me actually pulling anything out of my butt!!!
Second: Cherie and I went PARAGLIDING over Interlaken! My instructor said "Jog, then you will feel a pull back, but ignore it and keep running." So we jog, the wind catches me back a little, then I no longer feel the ground as I keep trying to run off the hill.. (mountain)! It was so gorgeous and calm, even though the weather was unsatisfactory. I loved it. I wish I could just glide in the air all the time!!
Third: I got an interview with Media Plus Consulting on June 29th.. A day after I get back! And well.. If I pass the interview process I am back in Europe in August for GOOD!!!! Wish me luck! If I get it, those who wished me luck can come visit me! ;)
Fourth: we couldn't find a hostel, hotel, or anything in Geneva. So we had to stay another night in Interlaken.
Fifth: the extra night in Interlaken proved to be disastrous...
Five.A: We planned this German speaking countries tour to end on June 15th. We are finishing this trip on June 12th. Cherie and I had to figure out what we should do for those extra days.. We couldn't stay in Vienna for 3 extra days... So our solution. Change our flight from Bratislava to Paris to Memminghem to London! :) (Course I had to squeeze in my favorite city one more time!!
Five.B: I am laying in the bottom bunk trying to sleep and reassure myself that our plan is now set and fool proof.. I hear another girl come in and then what happens next is something you only hear in hostel horror stories! She slips trying to get up in her bunk above mine.. When I say slip, I really mean she fell back on the chair and sink at the foot of our bunk! I get up make sure she is okay.. Then she leaves the room. A few minutes later there's knocking on the door because she forgot her key to the room! I open it.. Crawl back into bed.. THENNNNN I hear that heaving sound you do when you are about to puke.. Yeah.. SHE PUKES and it dribbles onto my bed! THANK GOD I was coherent enough to move myself and my iPad away from the puke shower! Anyway the night receptionist cleans it up. Moves our mattresses and she give me 3.50 Swiss Francs for the troubles. I am just glad she didn't get it on me!
Moral of the story: I get to go back to my favorite city, Cherie gets to see London, and my iPad is still safe!
Now we are in Salzburg! Sound of Music and Mozart Balls! Wooooooo!

Munich...again :)
3rd time in Munich and still learned something new and still experienced something different. The weather sucked once again, but we had one clear day when we went to Neuschwanstein but... There was scaffolding covering a large part of the castle! With the clear day view from Marienbrucke was incredible and the view from the stream at the bottom was just as impressive. Mehh I miss the countryside of Fussen.
That was Saturday. On Friday, I went to Hannes's house for a bbq. Let's just say that he needed a tutorial on grilling, but in the end everything turned out yummy! At one point, he was using a blowdryer to get he coals started! ^^ I stayed up until 4am talking to his co-workers about everything. They were hilarious and even though I couldn't understand German, it was still an experience to enjoy that time with them. I learned a lot about their educational system and about their culture. Most importantly, I became well acquainted with Jaegermeister!! It was interesting.... Up until the part of the night when.. Well.. When.. Meh I don't know because I really don't know what happened and didn't want to ask about it because it really wasn't my business.. It was just super sketch.
Saturday night we went to SUGAR! Keith and Tyler had a blast with a couple Irish girls... Or just one of them because she was the only single one. We had bottle service, but no never ending bottles of Valdo. (finally know what it's called I can finally look for it in the states) anyway... Ended up staying at Maxi's place again.. Well his grandma's aparemnet building. Yeah the building is owned by his grandma and his apartment/photo studio on the ground floor is so nice I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. Super modern and large! The front part of the flat is his photo studio. He's got the large Apple monitor for his photo editting, large screens to pull down as backdrops for the photos on the other side of the wall, lighting equipment, and a leather couch with lot of pillows! Then you walk through his half-kitchen to the bedroom, which is just as spacious as the studio with one queen sized bed and a pile of dirty clothes he takes home to get clean..
I wish I could get Augustiner in the states! We went on a biergarten crawl Thursday night when we got into Munich.. I loved Augustiner Keller biergarten the most and the beer is so good! There's even a playground for kids to play on. Hands down the best biergarten!! lol Mehhhh. I think what made this excursion the best is the people who went on it with us. They were mostly from different parts of the states, but they were so fun to hang out with and drink with! It's crazy how much fun you can have with people you just met.. This group was that group of people who you meet once, but leave the biggest impact on your life. Miss them...

I'm Back
POTSDAM
So I pretty much should buy out the grounds and live there. I couldn't have felt more at home away from home than at Sanssouci. Haha. It was gorgeous. I didn't get enough time to look inside the palace buildings because there were too many tourists and not enough time.. But I am sure from the images on Google that I would have died happily from it!
FRANKFURT
... Loved it. Gorgeous city. Really great mix of old architecture and new skyscrapers!! We climbed up a million steps to the Dom and the view of the whole city was amazing! One side you see all these modern buildings and from the other side you see the renovated older square. One thing I noticed about Germany, but particularly in Frankfurt is how diverse the people in the area is.
ROTHENBURG
This quaint little medieval town was so cute! I mean. Out of a german storybook CUTE!!!!! I was excited when I saw pictures on Pinterest, but seeing that little street corner in person was sooooooo adorable! And then when you walked outside the walls it was like WHOA! There's civilization outside these walls?!!??! Lol I loveeeeeeeeed it! This town is def worth seeing atleast once.
And now I am back in my favorite city in Europe: MUNICH! Went on a beer garden tour last night... Well I would say it was well worth my moneys!
Til later.

Love or Hate
I have heard that you either love Berlin and hate Munich. Or you hate Berlin and you love Munich. I would be the latter. Maybe hate is too strong of a word.. Berlin is just not my favorite city I have seen in Europe. Everyone talks about the craziness and such.. But I just don't see it. I was waiting to get blown away, but the only thing that has impressed me so far is the hostel. (Which if you ever travel to Berlin Hostel one80 is a bargain and AMAZING!) Berlin is not as quaint looking... East Berlin looks run down and the architecture is plain and ... Simple. West Berlin is a mix of old and new and so things look out if place. Not my taste in architecture, that's for sure.
I am glad though, however, that its not as crowded as I thought it was going to be. Definitely a lot of space here in Berlin. And lots of trains... Everywhere!
Tomorrow we head to Potsdam and Frankfurt. Can't wait for more!

Setbacks...
This morning we showed up at the airport, only to find out that our confirmation was deconfirmed. I was on the phone for 2 hours with Delta and STA Travel representatives trying to figure out what went wrong. Eventually... We didn't get a flight out of KC... But our flight from ATL to MADRID was still good. How is it that we couldn't find a flight down to ATL??!
Well.. Now we are flying out tomorrow and everything has been reimbursed from STA Travel. The punchline is that Delta/AirFrance had confirmed a flight for this morning.. Maybe I should have checked the flight info earlier.. But I really had no idea that anything had changed. There was a communication break, but everyone was really understanding and patient to get this figured out for us. Oh well. Atleast this happened here and not abroad. We wouldn't have gotten anything with representatives over there.. I would know from that train strike fiasco in Bergamo... Seesh
Tomorrow! Finally.

one year later
I can't help but to update right now.
One year later.
I miss my adventures in Europe so much. My heart crumbles when I am reminded that it was one year ago that I was actually in Spain. Just Skyped my German. sigh. Is it possible..
Life in the states ... Doesn't compare to what I had. And when you compare what you had to what you have it's hard to accept reality. Not a day goes by I don't see Europe. Even when I am not daydreaming glimpses of Europe pass my vision. I can't wait for the summer when I can see it all again.
This hurts even to update my blog. I am so torn. My family is in the states, but Europe has my heart. Even if I am not with the same people I was with the first time I was in Europe I am 100% sure I will still love it the same.
I just need to get away.
